Established in 1997, the scholarship aims to support deserving Malaysians in furthering their studies at local universities, while equipping them with leadership skills and real-world experience. Beyond financial support, the programme focuses on nurturing well-rounded individuals through mentorship, leadership development and internship opportunities within YTL Group. Successful scholars receive full tuition fee coverage, living allowances, and support for essential learning tools such as laptops and mobile data plans. According to YTL Foundation programme director Kathleen Chew, the scholarship is designed to empower talented young Malaysians while preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society. “At YTL Foundation, our focus is on nurturing well-rounded individuals by providing not only access to education, but also the guidance, exposure and values needed to grow into responsible leaders,” she said. “Through our scholarship programme, we aim to empower talented Malaysians to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to the future of our nation.” Scholars also gain access to structured leadership and personal development programmes, as well as mentorship and coaching sessions. In addition, they will have the opportunity to take part in annual paid internships within the YTL Group, giving them exposure to professional working environments and potential career pathways within one of Malaysia’s largest corporations.
