PETALING JAYA: Former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin has challenged Muhyiddin Yassin’s authority to block him from rejoining Perikatan Nasional (PN). Hamzah said Muhyiddin appeared to be acting as if he held absolute authority, adding that PN membership approval comes from all component parties, not just one. “He says I cannot be a PN member. Who is he to decide? If I can join PN, will he resign? “If he says yes, I will do my best to join PN so he can step down,” he was quoted as saying after an event in Port Dickson last night. He added that Muhyiddin should follow the example of Onn Ja’afar, the Umno founder, who resigned as president after many leaders disagreed with his views. Muhyiddin reportedly said he would oppose any effort to have Hamzah rejoin PN under a new party. Hamzah also confirmed holding discussions on taking over Parti Keluarga Malaysia. The party’s founder, Khairi Jaya, had earlier said the takeover was “90% confirmed”. The Larut MP was sacked from Bersatu on Feb 13 following a leadership tussle with Muhyiddin.
