Certain civil servants who were expected to be affected by traffic congestion during the Asean Summit last October were allowed to work from home. PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet will decide on the need to implement work from home arrangements for the public sector when it meets next Tuesday. The measure is being mooted in response to rising energy prices due to the war in the Middle East, with Thailand and the Philippines already implementing such measures. “Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has asked the Chief Secretary (Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar) and public services director-general (Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz) to review the proposal to ensure several aspects are properly aligned,” communications minister Fahmi Fadzil said. He was speaking as the government spokesman at a press conference in Putrajaya following a special Cabinet meeting on the impact of the Middle East war. Also present were finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan and agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu. Mohamad assured the public of ample food supply ahead of the Aidilfitri celebration, stating that basic food items – including rice, chicken, vegetables, and fruits – are sufficient at least until May or June. “For now, let’s not worry about anything. Let’s celebrate Hari Raya calmly, with the concept of frugality as suggested by the prime minister,” he said at the press conference. “The supply of rice, chicken, eggs, fish, beef, buffalo, fresh milk, vegetables, and fruits is sufficient, so the public does not need to panic.”
