University Malaya Medical Centre said ‘the matter is being reviewed further’. PETALING JAYA: University Malaya Medical Centre said it is still looking into allegations involving a heart patient who died at the facility last month after an angiogram. “This matter is being reviewed further,” UMMC said in an email to FMT last night. Frankie Victor, 59, a businessman dealing with furniture exports, died on Feb 21, a day after he was admitted for a heart attack. He had a stent inserted. His wife, Chanti, raised questions about the oxygen machine connected to her husband at the hospital after he was transferred to the coronary care unit. She said she was reassured by a nurse that things were “normal”. Chanti also queried about consent for Victor to be sedated, and claimed that “differing explanations” were given by hospital staff on what had happened to her husband. “I urge the UMMC management and cardiology department to conduct a full and transparent investigation. No other families should ever have to suffer the way mine has. My husband deserved better,” she said. Chanti’s daughter said UMMC had reached out to her mother through email on March 18, stating that it had initiated an internal investigation and would keep her informed once it had been completed. “All we want is the truth,” she said.
