(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik failed in their third attempt to win the All England title, losing to South Korean’s reigning world champions Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in the final today. The world No 2 pair went down to the defending champions 21-18, 12-21, 19-21 in a hard-fought match lasting 62 minutes at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. They were also runners-up at the 2019 and 2024 editions, losing to Indonesian pairs on both occasions. The two-time Olympics bronze-medalists take home US$50,750 (RM200,273) as runners-up. Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, who have now won three of their four encounters against their rivals so far, pocket US$107,300 (RM423,433) as champions. With the loss, Malaysia’s 19-year title drought continues in the men’s doubles category of the All England championships. The last Malaysian pair to win the title were Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong in 2007. The winners in the other categories at the All England were Lin Chun Yi from Taiwan (men’s singles), China’s Wang Zhi Yi (women’s singles), China’s Liu Sheng Shu (women’s doubles) and Ye Hong Wei-Nicole Gonzales Chan (Taiwan) (mixed doubles).
