A live music event by Filbert’s Foundation for Furry Friends (F5), this fundraiser is aimed at supporting the welfare of stray dogs in the country. Set to take place on March 29 at “Tom, Dick & Harry’s” in Bangsar, the event brings together music lovers and animal advocates for a laid-back night of entertainment. Tickets are priced at RM100 each, inclusive of a drink and a raffle entry, with all proceeds going directly to F5’s Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release-Manage (TNVRM) programme – a humane, sustainable way to manage stray dog populations. Marissa Majella, F5’s project manager and a singer performing that night, has long been involved in rescue work. “On a personal level, this cause is very close to my heart. I once rescued a puppy who tested positive for distemper. I did everything I could to nurse her back to health, but sadly, I lost her,” the 35-year-old told FMT Lifestyle. Through her work with independent rescuers, Majella has witnessed not only the emotional toll of rescue efforts, but also the significant financial strain that often comes with long-term care. “Organising a music fundraiser is something I’ve always wanted to do, and now I finally have a meaningful purpose behind it,” Majella said. The idea for the event was first sparked by F5’s president, Namita Gill, 47, who loves live music and concerts. The night will feature a line-up of local talents, including Gregory Ramanado, the band Classic Edge, vocalist Vijay David, Evelyn Feroza, and more. “It’s meant to be a fun and easygoing experience while contributing to something bigger,” Majella said. (L-R) Helena Hema Ann, Marissa Majella, and Susan Swier, volunteers with Filbert’s Foundation for Furry Friends, are passionate about animal welfare. F5 advocates for TNVRM as a long-term solution, focusing on spaying and neutering, vaccinations (including rabies), veterinary care, post-operative support, and ongoing field operations. A significant portion of the evening’s proceeds will go towards sustaining these efforts. Join this live music fundraiser on Sunday to support the welfare of stray dogs. (Filbert’s Foundation for Furry Friends pic) “Very often, when we rescue or trap dogs, we encounter urgent medical conditions that require immediate treatment. These cases can be costly, but they are necessary if we want to give these animals a real chance at survival and recovery. This fundraiser will help us continue doing that work sustainably,” Helena said. Helena emphasised that attendees are not only supporting F5, but also uplifting the silent heroes dedicating their time and resources to caring for strays. “Through this event, we hope not only to raise funds, but also to bring people together and stand united for a common cause,” Helena said. “Ultimately, our goal is to create a system where both the community and the animals can coexist safely and compassionately.” Purchase your tickets here.
