Selangor PAS Youth had previously proposed its commissioner Ab Halim Tamuri as the ideal person to lead PN in the state. SHAH ALAM: Selangor PAS commissioner Ab Halim Tamuri has stressed that a recent suggestion by its youth wing that PAS should lead the state Perikatan Nasional (PN) is purely a personal opinion and not an official stance. Halim said the decision on the appointment of Selangor PN chairman rests with the central leadership. “The youth wing chief (Sukri Omar) did make such a suggestion, but that reflects his personal view, not Selangor PAS’s position. It is not an official stance,” he said when met by reporters at a breaking-of-fast event. Sukri, who recently put forward the suggestion, said the move aims to bring new blood into the state leadership. He viewed Halim as the best figure to replace Azmin Ali of Bersatu, who resigned last December, and bring in a new wave of change. Halim, however, said there was no news yet on Azmin’s replacement. “We don’t know who (will assume the position). No one has been named yet. The PN Supreme Council will decide, and we will follow,” he said. Meanwhile, his deputy Shafie Ngah said the matter would be decided at this Saturday’s meeting. “Without a chairman, nothing can be decided,” he said.
