KUALA LUMPUR: A deputy CEO of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) pleaded not guilty at the sessions court here to a charge of receiving RM50,000 in cash from the son of ex-Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, eight years ago. Khuzairi Yahaya was alleged to have received the money from Faisal Hamzah without consideration, despite knowing Faisal had official dealings with him in his capacity as a public servant. The said offence, under Section 165 of the Penal Code, is alleged to have taken place at SSM’s headquarters in Jalan Stesen 5, KL Sentral, in May 2018. If found guilty, Khuzairi faces imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both. Judge Suzana Hussin fixed bail at RM15,000 bail with one surety, and ordered that he surrender his passport to the court pending disposal of his trial. She also fixed the matter for case management on April 20. Lawyer Aizat Fakri represented Khuzairi while deputy public prosecutor Fadhly Zamry appeared for the prosecution. Teacher charged with making false claim Meanwhile, in another sessions court, secondary school teacher Sahnan Nuddin Abdul Razak claimed trial to a charge of submitting a false claim valued at RM22,728. School teacher Sahnan Nuddin Abdul Razak is charged under Section 465 of the Penal Code and, if convicted, faces a jail sentence which may extend to 20 years, and a fine. The claim is alleged to have been for the supply of sports equipment to the school where Sahnan is serving. If found guilty, he faces a jail sentence of up to 20 years, as well as a minimum fine of five times the value of the sum involved. Sahnan also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge under Section 471 of the Penal Code of using as genuine a false document in the form of an invoice for the supply of sports equipment. The court set bail for Sahnan at RM7,000 with one surety and compounded his passport. The next case management is fixed on April 16. Lawyer Jason Wee represented the teacher.
