Slow-moving traffic on major stretches of E1 and E2

The Malaysian Highway Authority’s traffic cams showed heavy traffic on the E1 southbound between Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur at 10pm. (LLM pic) PETALING JAYA: Traffic was reported to be slow-moving on major northbound and southbound stretches of the E1 North-South Highway tonight on the second day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season. The Malaysian Highway Authority, in an update at 10pm, said there was congestion at the following northbound stretches. • Tapah – Gopeng; Gopeng – Simpang Pulai; Menora – Sg Perak; Kuala Kangsar – Bukit Gantang; Changkat Jering – Taiping, Bukit Merah – Alor Pongsu and Jawi – Sg Bakap. On the E1 southbound lanes, congestion was reported at: Kepala Batas – Hutan Kampung; Alor Setar – Pendang; Seberang Jaya – Prai; Bandar Baharu – Alor Pongsu; Kuala Kangsar – Terowong Meru; Bidor – Sungkai, and Tanjung Malim – Lembah Beringin. An accident on the southbound Bidor-Sungkai stretch, caused congestion, with the emergency lane being blocked. On the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, congestion was reported on the westbound lanes at Bentong – Bukit Tinggi and Genting Sempah – Gombak toll plaza. On the E2, congestion was reported in Negeri Sembilan and Johor stretches of the North-South Highway. Heavy traffic was reported on the northbound lanes at Bukit Gambir – Tangkak; Tangkak – Jasin; R&R Ayer Keroh – Simpang Ampat and Pedas Linggi – Port Dickson. On the southbound lanes, congestion was reported at: Pedas Linggi – Simpang Ampat; Port Dickson – Senawang; Yong Peng – Ayer Hitam and Simpang Renggam – Sedenak.
