(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA: A 79-year-old foreigner was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 strokes of the rotan by a sessions court in Lahad Datu after he was convicted of raping a disabled child two years ago. Sessions court judge Suhailla Selag handed down the sentence after the court was satisfied that the defence failed to establish reasonable doubt, Berita Harian reported. The perpetrator, an Indonesian, was charged with aggravated rape of a 10-year-old at a house in Lahad Datu, Sabah on 2024. Deputy public prosecutor Ng Juhn Tao appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented. The court ordered the sentence to begin today and for the accused to undergo counselling throughout his incarceration. Suhailla also ordered that the accused to be referred to the immigration department and deported upon completing his sentence.
