Education director-general Azam Ahmad’s clarification that classroom lessons will continue comes after deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh said the ministry would consider home-based teaching and learning. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The school session will continue as usual for now, with no decision yet on implementing home-based teaching and learning, says education director-general Azam Ahmad. This follows a statement by deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh yesterday that the ministry would consider home-based teaching and learning, with the final decision to be made by the Cabinet. On Friday, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil also said the Cabinet would decide whether to implement work-from-home (WFH) arrangements for the public sector. Both measures are being mooted in response to rising energy prices linked to the war in the Middle East, with Thailand and the Philippines already implementing WFH arrangements. Bernama reported Azam as addressing rumours on social media that classes would be conducted online. He said the education ministry wants to ensure learning is not disrupted while safeguarding the welfare of all parties involved.
