The initiative is among several measures being developed to address climate change challenges and anticipated extreme weather conditions in the coming months. “The final study is currently being carried out and will be presented to the state Cabinet for approval,” said state deputy minister Len Talif Salleh, according to a Ukas report. Speaking to reporters at his Hari Raya open house in Demak Laut, he also advised the public to refrain from open burning as dry weather is expected in the months ahead, Dayak Daily reported. Len said extreme weather conditions, including excessive rainfall, may lead to floods and prolonged dry spells that increase the risk of open fires.
