Religious school principal in Kelantan charged with sexually assaulting boy

(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA: The mudir, or principal, of a religious school was charged in the Gua Musang sessions court in Kelantan today with three counts of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old boy from March 4 to 6. Harian Metro reported that Razali Ab Ghani, 43, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before judge Nik Tarmizie Nik Shukri. The first charge was allegedly committed at a tahfiz hostel at 11pm on March 4, and the second and third at the office of an orphanage at 11pm on March 5 and 6. The charges are under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexual assault, which provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping. The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Shahril Ramli. Razali was granted bail of RM10,000 for each charge, totalling up to RM30,000. The court set April 19 for the next mention of the case.
