The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia is watching for potential rises in medicine and medical supply costs due to higher oil prices or global shipping disruptions due to the war in the Middle East. (Rawpixel pic) PETALING JAYA: Private hospitals in Malaysia are not facing any disruptions in medicine supplies amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) said today. APHM also said that the country’s pharmaceutical supply chain had shown no direct signs of impact from the conflict. “We will continue monitoring for any significant increases in medicine and medical consumable costs that could result from higher oil prices or global shipping disruptions,” the association said in a statement. It said many hospitals had adopted green technologies in recent years, making energy conservation a key sector priority. APHM’s statement follows the health ministry’s assurance two days ago that medical supplies remained stable. The ministry said government facilities maintained one to three months of stock, supported by buffer reserves from private concessionaires, while local manufacturers and importers reported sufficient raw material and finished product supplies.
