Pemandu Associates launches investment arm with acquisition of local firm

Pemandu Capital makes its entrance with the acquisition of an equity stake in a personal care business. PETALING JAYA: Global consultancy Pemandu Associates unveiled its investment arm Pemandu Capital yesterday with the acquisition of a majority equity stake in a local manufacturer of personal care products. The newly acquired company, Intramiles Sdn Bhd, produces more than 1,600 products across the haircare, skincare and bodycare segments. In a statement issued to the media, Pemandu Associates said the acquisition “signals the beginning of a broader strategy” by Pemandu Capital to build a portfolio of high-potential small and medium enterprises. Pemandu Group chairman Idris Jala said that with Pemandu Capital, the group is “building companies from within”. “We are putting our skin in the game. This is not advisory from the sidelines,” he said. Intramiles co-founders Chan Chum and Low Sau Choo said the company hopes to pursue exponential growth. Chan said the decision to partner with Pemandu was driven by “their unwavering commitment to preservation”. He said Pemandu understands the history and values that have shaped his company, ensuring that their vision remains intact. “This partnership has not only secured our future but has also reinforced our foundational principles,” he added. Chan’s partner Chow said Pemandu’s proven track record gives them the confidence that they can take Intramiles beyond Malaysia and onto the international stage.
