(UniPSAS pic) KUANTAN: Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah was renamed today as Universiti al-Quran, with the proclamation being made by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah. The declaration ceremony was held at Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan today, at which higher education minister Zambry Abd Kadir presented the letter confirming the change to the sultan. The university is wholly owned by the Pahang government. The sultan had consented on Feb 6 for the university to be renamed, making it the first university of its kind in Malaysia. Al-Sultan Abdullah said the rebranding was not merely a change of name, but a symbol of a clear direction to make the Quran a guiding beacon for intellectual and spiritual development in the state.
