KUCHING (Dec 20): The newly opened Sri Aman Islamic Complex has been hailed as a major landmark for Islamic development and a hub for state government administration in the division, said Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha.
He said the complex, built on a 6.37-acre site, symbolises unity and progress for the Muslim community in Sri Aman.
“It also serves as a centre for knowledge and welfare support for the local community,” he said during the complex’s launching ceremony.
Misnu expressed his appreciation for the presence of many non-Muslims at the event, viewing it as a strong show of support.
“I appreciate your presence and support as we Sarawakians, irrespective of race and faith, continue to stand together for a better Sarawak,” he said.
He emphasised that the complex is more than just a building; it is a facility dedicated to providing welfare services and support for the entire community.
He called on Muslim community leaders to identify individuals in need of assistance, whether the poor or children requiring educational aid.
“Should any Muslims need assistance or clarification on Islamic matters, do approach us for details to prevent misunderstanding and to promote unity and harmony,” he said.
“Together, we can contribute to the further progress of Sarawak.”
The Sri Aman Islamic Complex houses several state government departments and agencies, including the Sri Aman Resident’s Office, Sri Aman District Office, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Sarawak Forestry Department (Regional Office), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), and the Sarawak Service Counter.
Featuring modern Islamic architecture, the complex is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and government services for the benefit of the local community.
It underscores the ongoing commitment of the Sarawak government, through the Sarawak Islamic Council and the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund, to strengthen Islamic infrastructure and expand services to the people.
