Rafizi Ramli said an email by PKR only reminded him to adhere to the party’s constitution and code of ethics, although he is prepared for any eventuality. SHAH ALAM: Former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the central leadership only reminded him to adhere to the party’s constitution and code of ethics after he responded to a show-cause letter issued over his plans to contest the next general election. Rafizi said the decision was conveyed to him by PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh through email on March 6. “I’m not sure what discussions took place or what their intentions were, and I don’t want to speculate. “In my position, whatever action I take, I am always prepared for any eventuality,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Ayuh Malaysia programme here today. On Feb 19, Rafizi revealed that he had received a show-cause letter from PKR on the grounds that he had allegedly declared his exit from the party. This followed an interview with Sin Chew Daily in which he was quoted as saying: “I don’t think I will stand as a PKR candidate. I will still contest in Pandan ... how I will contest in Pandan, I think that’s a secret.” Rafizi responded to the letter by saying that he was free to make his own plans after Parliament was dissolved. He also said the meaning of his comments “are understandable to anyone with a good command of Malay”.
