Kuala Pilah deputy police chief Shamrol Shah Ramli said an initial check found that the baby died about two days earlier. PETALING JAYA: The body of a full-term baby boy, with the umbilical cord still attached, was found near a telecommunications tower substation by Masjid Rembang Panas in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, yesterday. Kuala Pilah deputy police chief Shamrol Shah Ramli said police received a call from a local man at 6.30pm reporting the discovery. A formal report was lodged about half an hour later. “Police went to the scene and an initial check found that the baby died about two days earlier and the body had begun to decompose. “A physical examination of the victim did not reveal any external injuries, and the cause of death remains under investigation,” Bernama reported him as saying today. Shamrol said the body was sent to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of a body.
