The ongoing civil suit brought by Yusoff Rawther against Anwar Ibrahim (right) will now be heard before Justice Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan. PUTRAJAYA: Justice Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan will hear former research assistant Yusoff Rawther’s civil lawsuit against Anwar Ibrahim, lawyer Nur Mustanir Nor said today. The lawyer, a member of Yusoff’s legal team, said the case was assigned to Raja Ahmad after Justice Roz Mawar Rozain was transferred to Seremban last month. “Case management will be held before the new judge on April 8 to fix trial dates,” he told reporters after a Court of Appeal proceeding here. Roz Mawar had taken over the case from Justice Johan Lee following his transfer to the Alor Setar High Court. Meanwhile, a three-member Court of Appeal bench chaired by Justice Wong Kian Kheong granted Yusoff costs after Anwar withdrew his appeal over the High Court’s decision to dismiss his attempt to refer eight questions of law to the Federal Court regarding the lawsuit. Anwar’s solicitors, Christopher & Lee Ong had earlier written to the court to advise that they would not be filing any submissions in the appeal, originally scheduled for hearing today. Wong, sitting with Justices Azmi Ariffin and Latifah Tahar, then struck out the appeal and awarded Yusoff costs of RM50,000. Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali had asked for RM150,000 in costs, claiming substantial preparatory work had been done, including for Anwar’s application to stay the trial pending disposal of the appeal. Lawyer Sanjay Mohan, representing Anwar, offered RM15,000.
