V Vadivelu will be remanded until the disposal of his case at the High Court. KUALA LUMPUR: A jobless man has been charged in the magistrates’ court here with the murder of a businessman nearly four years ago. No plea was recorded from V Vadivelu, 39, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. Vadivelu is accused with three other men of murdering Goh Chok Chuan, 63, at a parking lot near the Amarin Kiara residential area here on July 11, 2022. The three others – M Partibekumaran, M Hariadasan and G Sathorohgunosing – had been charged shortly after Goh’s death. If found guilty, Vadivelu could face the death penalty or a jail term of between 30 and 40 years and 12 strokes of the cane. Magistrate S Arunjothy fixed June 8 for case management after prosecuting officer M Alli Nangai told the court they were preparing the documents to transfer the case to the High Court. Vadivelu, who was unrepresented, will be remanded until the disposal of his case at the High Court. It was previously reported that Goh, a restaurant owner, was shot dead. Witnesses had heard gunshots before finding his body. Vadivelu was among the 36 people on a list of wanted persons released by the Kuala Lumpur police contingent last month.
