(EPA Images pic) KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial singer Wee Meng Chee, also known as Namewee, will be filing representations to the Attorney-General’s Chambers over his two drug charges. Lawyer Nur A’minahtul Mardiah Md Nor told the magistrates’ court during case management today that the representation would be submitted within a week. Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim then fixed April 8 for the prosecution to update the court on the outcome. Deputy public prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal appeared for the prosecution. In January, Wee pleaded not guilty to a new charge under the Poisons Act 1952 for possessing 0.78g of sildenafil and an amended charge under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing 1.57g of methamphetamine. The offences allegedly took place at a hotel room in Banyan Tree Hotel, Jalan Conlay, on Oct 22, 2025. Sildenafil is a controlled substance commonly found in erectile dysfunction medication. Wee was arrested at a hotel in the capital where nine blue pills, suspected to be ecstasy, were found in his room. Police claimed that he tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and THC. He was charged in court two days later. The musician was also arrested for an investigation into the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin. He was released on bail, pending toxicology and autopsy reports.
