Federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh said her office will hold discussions with KLCC Property Holdings Berhad and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to increase the number of CCTV cameras in the area. “CCTVs are under the KLCC management. I will discuss with them, along with DBKL, to see how we can install more CCTVs outside so we can identify those conducting such business activities without permission,” Bernama reported Yeoh as saying today. Yesterday, police said they had arrested 18 unlicensed photographers suspected of attacking a man who tried to break up a fight between their group and a foreign tourist last Sunday. Dang Wangi police chief Sazalee Adam said the Malaysian complainant was set upon when he tried to stop a group of photographers from beating up the tourist. Late last year, a number of unlicensed photographers were also issued compound notices during an integrated KL Strike Force operation. Yeoh also said she hoped to see more police officers and DBKL enforcement officers patrol the area around KLCC, which is a popular tourist spot. “We do not want to see tourists and Malaysians being bullied because it also tarnishes the country’s name. “Fights like that should not happen and an investigation is being conducted by the police. I urge the police to take action,” she said.
