Malaysia Airlines to resume Jeddah, Madinah flights

Malaysia Airlines flights to Doha remained suspended until March 7. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines will temporarily resume return services to Jeddah and Madinah from March 4 to 8, while services to Doha will remain suspended until March 7 as the airline continues to assess the security situation amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The resumed Jeddah services involve flights MH156 and MH157 on March 4, 5 and 6, as well as MH150 and MH151 on March 8. For Madinah, the airline will operate MH158 and MH159 on March 5 as well as MH152 and MH153 on March 6. Malaysia Aviation Group, the airline’s parent company, said services beyond March 8 remain subject to further review and may be revised or adjusted as needed. “All other flights, including services to London and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, remain on schedule, operating on alternative routings well clear of the affected conflict zone,” the group said in a statement. It said affected passengers are being notified and assisted with alternative travel arrangements where required. The group added that it would continue to closely monitor developments and take all necessary measures to ensure safe and reliable operations. Separately, Bernama reported Malaysia’s consul-general in Jeddah, Tengku Mohd Dzaraif Raja Abdul Kadir, as saying that about 1,600 Malaysian umrah pilgrims are stranded in Saudi Arabia following flight cancellations and disruptions. He said the consulate had contacted most of the affected pilgrims, who are currently in Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. “Alhamdulillah, they are in good condition, and the situation in Saudi Arabia, especially in Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah, is also very good without any untoward incidents,” he said on Bernama TV’s Malaysia Petang Ini programme.
