Kulai police chief Tan Seng Lee said police detected a viral post on X indicating that the victim was beaten by a group, Bernama reported. One of the assailants was armed with a baseball bat in the incident at about 9.50pm. Tan said the incident occurred when the victim, a 33-year-old man, was riding his motorcycle home after performing prayers at the mosque. He is believed to have overtaken a grey Proton Saga. “The car was driven recklessly and overtook him. It stopped abruptly in front of the victim’s motorcycle, forcing him to apply the brakes suddenly,” Tan said in a statement today. Four men got out of the car and one of them struck the victim on the head with a stick, causing him to fall. The other suspects also kicked the victim before taking his motorcycle key and fleeing the scene. Tan said the victim sustained head injuries requiring five stitches, as well as several other injuries to his body. The case is being investigated under Sections 279 and 324 of the Penal Code for reckless driving and voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon or dangerous object.
