LTU Expressway to be completed in 2028, says Nanta

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The construction of the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Expressway, formerly known as Central Spine Road, is expected to be completed in 2028, the works ministry told the Dewan Negara. Works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the RM7.7 billion expressway project, spanning 299.4km, comprised 26 packages, of which 14 had been completed and 11 were still under construction. Meanwhile, a subpackage is undergoing re-procurement to secure a contractor to complete the remaining works following the termination of an earlier contract. “For the packages that are still under construction, the average physical progress rate is is 78.12%, compared to the target of 79%. The entire LTU project is expected to be completed in 2028. “The works ministry will continue to monitor this project to ensure that the remainder is completed on schedule by taking into account the aspects of costs, quality and safety of road users,” he said in a written parliamentary reply. Nanta was responding to Senator Leong Ngah Ngah, who asked when the expressway project would be fully complete and operational for road users in the East Coast.
