(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan government has declared March 19 a public holiday for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Kelantan menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud said the state government agreed to designate Thursday, the 29th of Ramadan, a public holiday across the state. “This decision was made to allow the rakyat to prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and to reduce traffic congestion,” he said in a statement. Nassuruddin said the additional holiday would also allow people to spend more time with their loved ones ahead of the festive celebration. Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that March 23, Monday, would be declared an additional Hari Raya holiday if Aidilfitri falls on Friday (March 20). Alternatively, he said, Friday would be declared an additional holiday if Aidilfitri falls on Saturday.
