Chee Sur Wing and Rita Too have been selling Raya wear at budget-friendly prices for the past three years. (Bernama pic) KLUANG: For the past three years, one Chinese couple in this part of Johor has been quietly helping Muslim families prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri without breaking the bank. Chee Sur Wing, 33, and his wife Rita Too, 32, have earned praise for selling affordable festive outfits through their brand Pahlawanku, using what they call a “Rahmah” pricing initiative aimed at low-income households. Having offered complete Raya sets with samping for as low as RM50 in previous years, the couple has introduced an even more budget-friendly option this year – kurta priced from just RM10. Chee said the idea was simple: to ensure families from the B40 and lower-income groups can enjoy the tradition of wearing new clothes during the festive season. “My wife and I just want to help the B40 community, especially low- and middle-income households, so they too can feel the joy of Hari Raya with new attire,” he said when met at his factory in Taman Kluang Perdana. To ensure the initiative truly benefits those in need, Chee said the RM10 kurta are meant strictly for personal use. “They are not meant to be resold at bazaars or in shops. The aim is to help those who need them most,” he stressed. Last year alone, Chi and Too sold more than 20,000 festive outfits, including baju Melayu Cekak Musang, baju Melayu Johor, baju kurung, baju kebaya and kurta. Chee said the garments are made using fabrics such as satin and Como Crepe, with durable stitching designed to withstand regular wear. For now, most of their customers come from around Kluang, although members of the public are welcome to visit their factory, which operates daily except on Sundays. Beyond Raya attire, the couple also produces corporate clothing for men and women at affordable prices, while actively supporting charitable activities.
