A video showing two men allegedly demanding ‘protection money’ from a massage parlour in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, has gone viral on social media. PETALING JAYA: Federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh has directed that a police report be filed today over a video of two men allegedly demanding “protection money” from a massage parlour in Wangsa Maju. In a statement, Yeoh said she hoped the police would launch an immediate investigation into the matter. “Our stance is clear: we do not tolerate any collection of ‘protection money’ or the use of middlemen,” she said. In a separate statement, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) denied the men’s claim of being “under DBKL”, saying it had no connection whatsoever with the individuals in the video. It also denied any link to the collection of protection money, abuse of power, or unlawful conduct. “Any statements made by the individuals concerned are personal in nature and do not in any way represent the position or actions of DBKL.” The video’s caption claimed that the men were members of Wangsa Maju PKR’s executive committee. FMT has reached out to acting Wangsa Maju PKR chief Azmee Abd Rahim for comment.
