Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said PRISMAnita was aimed at ensuring women would have access to support services that were swifter, coordinated and victim-focused. KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unveiled PRISMAnita today, a one-stop centre to help women who suffer from various issues, including domestic violence. The centre will bring together various support services under one roof employing a “no wrong door” policy to ensure women who need aid are not hampered by bureaucratic obstructions. Its services will be accessible at state women development offices throughout the country. Anwar said this initiative was aimed at ensuring women would have access to support services that were swifter, coordinated and victim-focused. Launched in conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebrations here, he said the centre would serve as an advocacy hub supporting women in crises while raising awareness of laws against domestic violence and sexual-harassment, among others. “The support being offered is more holistic because it involves counselling, as well as the coordination of cases with stakeholders,” he said in his speech. Anwar said he would ensure that every government ministry and department would support the centre, and not just the women, family and community development ministry. The prime minister also announced tax exemptions for corporations that contributed to the Social Security Organisation’s Housewives Social Security Scheme, also known as Lindung Kasih. Under this scheme – which aims to safeguard housewives from illnesses, accidents, and unforeseen circumstances that could result in permanent disability or incapacity – contributions can be made by third parties for housewives. Anwar said this new mechanism for corporations to contribute to the scheme would be managed by the National Welfare Foundation.
