(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: The government will not extend Azam Baki’s contract as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief for another year, according to a report by Singapore’s The Straits Times. The report, quoting an anonymous government official, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had “repeatedly stressed to the Cabinet” in the past few weeks that Azam’s tenure would not be extended. Azam’s contract as MACC chief has been extended thrice since he took office in March 2020. He was given one-year extensions in 2023, 2024 and 2025. His present contract is set to expire on May 12. There have been calls from civil society, the opposition, DAP, and several PKR MPs for Azam to resign or for the government to suspend or sack him from
