Police said the couple was believed to have been dead for more than 48 hours based on the condition of their bodies. PETALING JAYA: Police say the couple found dead at a house in Sungai Petani, Kedah, last night had their heads severed and other body parts dismembered, allegedly in an attempt to dispose of the remains. Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said the bodies of the 65-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife were found wrapped in a carpet and cloth in the kitchen of the house in Kampung Belau, Merbok, reported Harian Metro. Hanyan said the body of their 29-year-old son was found in an upstairs bedroom, with slash wounds on his neck. Several sharp weapons were found in a container near the son’s body. “Police received information from members of the public that the couple who lived in the house had not been seen for three days, and a foul smell was coming from the area. “We forced our way into the house and discovered two bodies, the husband and wife, wrapped and covered in the kitchen area,” he said. He said the couple was believed to have been dead for more than 48 hours based on the condition of the bodies, which were swollen and decomposing, while the son appeared to be more recently deceased. Preliminary investigations found that the son was believed to have had a history of mental health issues. The bodies were sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem examinations. The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
