Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the stings were conducted between March 3 and March 5. SHAH ALAM: Police busted two drug trafficking syndicates, seizing narcotics with an estimated street value of RM14.6 million following a series of raids around the Klang Valley earlier this month. Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the stings were conducted between March 3 and March 5. “In four separate raids, police arrested a local man, four foreign men, and one foreign woman,” he said at a press conference today. A total of 105.1kg of methamphetamine and 116.3kg of cannabis was seized in the four raids across Gombak, KLIA, Sepang, and Sentul. The first case on March 3 involved a 34-year-old local man and a 47-year-old foreign national. Police discovered 105.1kg of syabu in 64 plastic packages labelled “Daguanyin”, packed in five canvas bags in a Nissan van. The drugs are believed to have been intended for distribution around the Klang Valley. Shazeli said the Malaysian suspect worked as a courier delivery driver and had a criminal record of three offences. The foreign suspect who works at a temple near Batu Caves is married and has no prior record in Malaysia. Both suspects tested negative for drugs. Police also seized a Yamaha motorcycle valued at around RM2,000. In a separate case, police arrested a foreigner at KLIA with 27.2kg of cannabis packed in 49 plastic packages in his luggage, believed to be intended for overseas distribution. The man’s arrest led to the arrest of another foreigner, also a male, believed to be one of the syndicate’s masterminds, at a house in Kota Warisan, Sepang, on March 4, where police seized another 14.3kg of cannabis. On March 5, a foreign man and a foreign woman were nabbed at a condominium in Mont Kiara, where 74.8kg of cannabis packed in 136 plastic packages was found. Shazeli said the four foreign suspects, aged between 20 and 30, entered Malaysia between December 2025 and mid-February this year on tourist visas and were believed to be part of the same trafficking network. Two of the suspects tested positive for drugs. Police also seized several assets under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, including a BMW M4, a Proton Iriz, an Audemars Piguet watch valued at RM781,500, an Armani Exchange watch and cryptocurrency worth about RM4,842. “The drugs seized in these operations could have supplied about 738,000 users in a day, based on an estimated consumption of 0.3g per person,” he said. The suspects are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment and no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane if the death penalty is not imposed. On a separate matter, Shazeli said the investigation paper on a gang robbery in Gombak involving several police officers accused of stealing over RM300,000 from a businessman had been submitted to Bukit Aman for legal review. He said the suspects knew each other and had been arrested, with the main mastermind identified as a civilian within the group.
