(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Port Dickson Bersatu chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, has been sacked from the party. Badrul told FMT he was informed about his expulsion by the secretary of Bersatu’s disciplinary board through WhatsApp at 6pm today. “It is clear the party no longer champions the people’s issues, with the president favouring certain figures who have been threatening everyone to follow the president,” he said. Badrul, who was elected Port Dickson Bersatu chief in November 2024, vowed to continue fighting for the people and combating corruption. Badrul was formerly from PKR but was sacked in 2016. He joined Bersatu in 2020. FMT has reached out to Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz for confirmation. Earlier today, Badrul revealed that he received a show-cause letter from the party’s disciplinary board on March 10 over several allegations, including charges of tarnishing the party’s image and name. He had been given until yesterday to respond to the letter but refused to do so, arguing that the matters raised were “illogical”. He had said that this suggested that Bersatu is under the leadership’s tight control, with members not free to express their views. A leadership tussle between Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and his former deputy, Hamzah Zainudin, led to Hamzah’s sacking on Feb 13. Several other Bersatu leaders were also sacked and suspended following Hamzah’s expulsion.
