Bursa opens higher on foreign fund buying

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia extended its upward momentum, opening higher on Monday as foreign funds continued to snap up local shares, reflecting sustained external confidence in the Malaysian market. At 9.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.64 points to 1,721.63 from last Friday’s close of 1,719.99. The index surpassed its previous peak of 1,721.42 recorded on Feb 22, 2019. In the broader market, decliners outnumber gainers 148 to 147. Some 310 counters were unchanged, while 2,123 were untraded and 39 suspended.
