MCA president Wee Ka Siong said the party wants its election machinery in Melaka and Johor to be activated immediately.KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) should contest the upcoming Melaka and Johor state elections independently under its own banner, says MCA president Wee Ka Siong. He said Johor is currently governed by BN while Melaka operates under a unity government, but both states were previously won by the coalition. “In the coming state elections, it is only reasonable and justifiable for Barisan Nasional to continue contesting under its own banner and seek a mandate from voters to govern independently,” he said in his speech at the party’s 77th anniversary celebration today. Wee added that preparations for the elections must enter the final stage immediately, with the party machinery in both states told to prepare immediately. BN currently holds 40 seats in the Johor legislative assembly, and 21 seats in Melaka. MORE TO COME
