Arun Dorasamy said he gave his statement to police after being summoned three weeks ago. PETALING JAYA: Activist Arun Dorasamy says he will be charged under the Sedition Act at the Jawi magistrates’ court in Penang tomorrow morning. He said this in a brief WhatsApp status update, later explaining to FMT that it follows a report lodged against him over his statements “defending (Hindu) temples in Dengkil and Rawang”. “I gave my statement (to police) three weeks ago, and they have been ordered to charge me tomorrow,” he said. On March 2, Sinar Harian reported Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar as saying that eight police reports had been lodged against Arun for his role in the controversy surrounding the temple in Rawang. Shazeli said the reports concern “dissatisfaction over statements he made” in the matter, adding that one report was lodged by the temple’s management.
