(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: FGV Holdings Bhd has appointed Abu Huraira Abu Yazid as its new non-independent and non-executive chairman, effective today. In a statement, FGV said Abu Huraira brought 50 years of experience across various sectors, including financial services, logistics, social security, rehabilitation, oil and gas, and manpower development. The government-linked company said Huraira, who holds a bachelor of economics from Universiti Malaya, also had extensive expertise in banking operations, risk management and financial governance, having held senior roles at Malaysian financial institutions. He is currently also chairman of the Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation, MISC Bhd, Human Resource Development Corporation, AET Pte Ltd and Malaysian Maritime Academy Sdn Bhd. He also served as chairman of the Social Security Organisation and Pusat Rehabilitasi Perkeso Sdn Bhd, as well as executive director of Pos Malaysia Bhd. “His wealth of experience and proven track record in corporate leadership, governance and stakeholder engagement will be instrumental in guiding FGV through its next phase of growth and transformation. “With the continued support of the government, the group remains committed to delivering sustainable value to all stakeholders,” FGV said in a statement.
