(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR: Unseeded Malaysian men’s doubles pair Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing continued their giant-killing feats in the Swiss Open by defeating the higher-ranked Indonesian duo Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana to reach the quarter-finals. This comes after their stunning first-round victory over another Indonesian pair, Muhammad Rian Ardianto-Rahmat Hidayat, in straight games on Tuesday. In today’s second-round match at St Jakobshalle in Basel, the 27th-ranked Malaysians won 21-12, 21-23, 21-16 in 53 minutes against the third-seeded Indonesians, who are the world No 18 pair. They will take on the formidable Danish pair Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard in the quarter-finals. Aaron-Khai Xing turned heads at last week’s All England after stunning India’s world No 4 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the opening round. Separately, fellow Malaysians Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong lost to Peerachai Sukhpun-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul of Thailand 21-18, 19-21, 15-21. Up-and-coming Malaysian singles player Wong Ling Ching fell in the second round of the World Tour Super 300 championships, losing to top Indonesian shuttler Putri Kusuma Wardani 17-21, 15-21.
