(AFP pic) PETALING JAYA: A 47-year-old man was arrested in Butterworth, Penang, last night for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad on Facebook. In confirming the arrest, Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said authorities also seized the suspect’s phone. “We are remanding him for three days starting today,” he said in a statement, adding that the arrest was made after a report was lodged on March 22. Fadil said the suspect had allegedly written the offensive comments on independent preacher Firdaus Wong’s Facebook page. He said the suspect is being investigated for causing disharmony, disunity and enmity on religious grounds as well as attempting to incite a particular community. He is also being probed for improper use of network facilities.
