The Putrajaya MRT line experienced a three-day service disruption earlier this month due to cable theft. PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested four suspects for their alleged involvement in the cable theft along the Putrajaya MRT line recently, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said. The cable theft had caused a three-day service disruption to the Putrajaya MRT line earlier this month, In a statement, Prasarana says the arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by its auxiliary police team and the Selangor police contingent. All the suspects, aged between 30 and 45, were brought to the scene for identification and to assist in the investigation related to items seized. The arrests followed a police report filed by the public transport company on the cable theft that occurred in Sri Damansara station on March 3. Prasarana Group president and CEO Amir Hamdan thanked the Selangor police for their swift and professional action in apprehending the suspects and helping to expedite the investigation. “Prasarana will continue to enhance its safety measures along the Putrajaya MRT route, which include increasing patrols and monitoring, as well as strategic collaboration with the authorities to ensure that the safety of its public transport infrastructure is preserved.” The Putrajaya line resumed services on March 9 after Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd restored power following the disruption caused by the cable theft.
