4 men in Penang claim trial to seriously injuring man with parang

(File pic) PETALING JAYA: Four men pleaded not guilty in the George Town sessions court in Penang today to grievously injuring a man with a parang and causing him to lose his right arm last month. Berita Harian reported that G Kisheaan, 29, S Yogayoggan, 26, S Heganeswaran, 28, and K Sarvindran, 23, entered their pleas after the charge was read before judge Irwan Suainbon. They were jointly charged with criminal conspiracy to cause grievous hurt to S Prashanraj, 33, with a parang at Gurney Paragon in George Town at about 8am on Feb 25. The charge was framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 120B, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine or whipping, upon conviction. The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Lee Jun Keong, while the accused were represented by lawyer Lim Xian Zhi. The court allowed bail of RM15,000 with one surety for all the accused, with the additional conditions that they do not disturb the victim or prosecution witnesses and report to a police station once a month until the case is disposed of. The court set April 15 for the case to be mentioned again and the handover of documents.
