Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Jay January Siowou said that two men and one woman were remanded for three days from today until Wednesday to assist in investigations under Section 286 of the Penal Code for negligent conduct involving explosive substances. “Initial investigations found that the stall had a valid permit. The incident damaged a motorcycle, two cars and nearby premises, including a restaurant and a house. “No casualties were reported,” he said in a statement. Siowou also urged the public to exercise caution and follow safety rules when handling flammable materials, particularly during the festive season, to prevent similar incidents. A 15-second video of the incident has gone viral, showing sparks and fireworks flying into a nearby restaurant as its workers scrambled to pull down the shutters. The stall’s permit has since been revoked by the Seberang Perai City Council.
