Twelve cops, including four officers from Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the loss of cryptocurrency belonging to a group of Chinese nationals. SHAH ALAM: Twelve policemen arrested in connection with a RM200,000 cryptocurrency heist have been suspended from duty amid an ongoing investigation. Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the investigation paper had been referred to legal advisers and that the cops were awaiting a digital forensics report. “It is still at the investigation stage, (the probe paper) is not complete yet,” he said in a press conference at the Shah Alam police headquarters here today. It was reported that 12 cops, including four officers from Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department, had been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the loss of cryptocurrency belonging to a group of Chinese nationals. A Chinese national had filed a police report claiming that he and seven others were forced to transfer 50,000 USDT, a dollar-pegged crypto token, after a Country Heights bungalow they were renting was raided by policemen. The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which relates to gang robbery.
